The John Utting Memorial Fundraising Ball

An evening of dinner, live music and remembrance at the Village Hotel Leeds North — celebrating what would have been John's 30th birthday year, and raising money in aid of Mind.

"No one should ever walk alone."

Why we're holding this ball

John was a son, a brother and the greatest of friends. He died by suicide in August 2022, aged 25. On what would have been his 30th birthday year, and 5th year of his death, his family and friends are coming together — to remember him, to raise money for Mind, and to talk openly about the things that too often go unsaid.

In aid of Mind

All proceeds go to Mind, the mental health charity — because every pound helps someone, somewhere, feel less alone. This event is organised by John's family and friends, in aid of Mind (registered charity no. 219830).

The Good Citizens

A Bradford-based three-piece with over a decade of weddings, parties and festivals across Yorkshire behind them. Motown, reggae, rock and pop — and winners of Best Covers Act at the 2024 Bradford Music Scene Awards. You may also know their song "Take Me Home, Midland Road", the official anthem of Bradford City AFC.

Can't make it on the night?

You can still be part of it. Raffle tickets are just £2 each, with the draw held live at the ball — you don't need to be there to win. Or donate directly to Mind through our official fundraising page.

If you're struggling, please talk to someone.
Samaritans are there day and night, every day of the year, on 116 123 — free to call from any phone. Whatever you're carrying, you don't have to carry it alone.
